My name is Teyla Rachel Branton, and I’ve had a lot of success organizing author group promotions with authors just like you. We join together to advertise our retailer and reader magnet deals. Promoting with other authors helps only takes a little time and gets GREAT results. Most promotions are free, unless we decide to do advertising, and then I might ask you to pitch in a few bucks. It’s all rather simple, but the benefits so far have been GREAT! To join us, sign up below.

My book is humor. I see no suitable genre.

Just humor? Is it general fiction besides that? Or is it humorous nonfiction?

Thanks for the reply. My book is political satire, so it’s fiction. But it’s not a novel. It’s a collection of skits or vignettes making fun of political figures, principally Donald Trump.

This is embarrassing, but I actually don’t know which promo company you’re responding for. I guess I’m contacting too many. Could you tell me?

        Thank you.

I did not use KDP to publish so how do I promote my book?

    Reply
    • Teyla

If you are not selling an ebook copy, ebook magnet programs won’t help you. But there are many ways to publish ebooks that aren’t through KDP. It doesn’t matter what place you publish your ebook through, you can promote it. In fact, many people who do magnet promotions offer books they have formatted into ebooks and don’t offer on ANY platform, including KDP. I have one myself. It’s available only to people who sign up on my site. So there are many ways to promote your books with an ebook or e-short story. However, you must have a book file to participate.

I have just written the Indian and Me. It is a historical romance with lots of educational knowledge about the American Revolution and how the Indians played into this.

I am an indie author, my last book Behind the Fan was a Bronze Medal recipient in the Wishing Shelf Book Award. I took a successful short story: In Hiding, and developed this into a novel. This has been released in September and I am looking for Crime Lovers to read this new book!

I have all of my books published wide, but it’s through D2D, and I’d love to have a bit of help publishing them directly to the other platforms.

That’s fairly easy to do. Do you need links of where to upload?

A year ago or so I tried to sigh up to publish on iBooks, but I keep getting a blasted run-around when signing in. I changed a password, yet it doens’t recongize it. I got so frustrated that I gave up entirely and used D2D, which didn’t give me a hassle. And, yes, I would appreciate links to the B&N site, and Nook. I’m not sure what the other ones that are popular.

You can join a speculative promotion, romance promo (if it’s mostly romance), or a Christian one (I typically do at least one or two Christian promos a year). As long as the rest of your content fits into one of the other promos, you are welcome to join!

Paul, if you can take a peek at the promos I’m planning, you can get an idea: https://authorpromos.teylarachelbranton.com/upcoming-promotions/. If you have a magnet books, you can join a magnet promo. If you are with a publisher, you can join, or suggest that I create a retailer discount group promo. I have two of those in the works now.

        Teyla,

Just wondering. Does the magnet book have to be tied to Amazon or another retailer? Or, can I give a copy of my own pdf or mobi file to get people’s email addresses to add to my blog site?

        Reply
        • Teyla Rachel Branton

Magnet books are not connected to any retailer. They are always books that you upload yourself on My Book Cave. They require mobi and epub files. They collect the addresses and you then download them and add them to your newsletter. I have seen you sign up for several magnets, but I’ve never had your book appear on the group, which means you haven’t uploaded a magnet Book Cave on your dashboard yet. If you need help, let me know!

I have a book listed on My Book Cave. It is titled “Bridgetown High” by Paul W West. What do I need to do to make it a magnet book?

          • Teyla Rachel Branton

I’m so sorry for not seeing this comment, Paul. I make a book a magnet, you need to have the mobi (kindle version) and the epub and upload them on your magnet dashboard. Please email them if you need help doing it. If you are with a traditional publisher, you will need to get their permission.
